Ingredients
- 1/3 cup Moong Dal Washed
- 1 cup Spinach Washed and chopped
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder Adjust to taste
- 3/4 tsp Salt Or as required
- 1 1/2 cups Water For cooking
Instructions
Cooking the Dal
- Add moong dal, turmeric powder, salt, and water to a pressure cooker (2-3 whistles for soaked dal (for creamy) and 3-5 whistles for unsoaked dal) or if cooking in a pot, simmer covered for 25–30 minutes until the dal is soft.
- Add chopped spinach to the cooked dal and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes until the spinach softens.
Tempering
- Heat oil in a small pan, add cumin seeds, and let them crackle gently.
- Add red chilli powder to the tempering and pour it over the dal. Mix well.
Final Steps
- Adjust consistency with water if needed and serve warm.
