Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Chana Dal Washed and soaked for 30 minutes
- 1 cup Bottle Gourd Peeled and diced
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder Adjust to taste
- 3/4 tsp Salt Or as required
- 2 cups Water For cooking
- 1/2 cup Coriander Leaves chopped

Preparation
- Wash and soak the chana dal for about 30 minutes. Peel and dice the bottle gourd into small pieces.
Cooking the Dal
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds. Let them crackle gently.
- Add soaked chana dal and diced bottle gourd to the cooker.
- Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Pour in water, stir once, close the lid, and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles on medium heat.
Final Steps
- Let the pressure release naturally. Open the lid and lightly mash if a thicker consistency is preferred.
- Sprinkle some coriander. Serve warm as a dal or sabzi-style dish with roti or as a light bowl meal.
