Ingredients
Dough
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tbsp Milk Powder
- 1 tsp Yeast
- 2 tbsp Canola Oil
- ¾ cup Water warm
Filling
- 13.5 slices Pepperoni cut into bite-sized pieces
- 12 Olives sliced
- ½ cup Mozzarella Cheese shredded
Topping
- 1 tbsp Herbs basil, dried, or thyme, oregano, such as parsley
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit in a warm place for about 5-10 minutes until foamy. This activates the yeast, which helps the bread rise.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and milk powder.
- Add the canola oil, pepperoni, olives, mozzarella cheese, and the activated yeast mixture to the dry ingredients.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Kneading develops the gluten, which gives the bread its structure.
- Lightly grease the dough with 1 teaspoon of canola oil, cover the bowl, and let it rise in a warm place for about 40 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Grease a loaf pan. Gently punch down the risen dough to release the air.
- Place the dough in the prepared loaf pan and let it rise for another 30 minutes. This second rise creates a light and airy texture.
- Sprinkle the top with dried herbs.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 200°F (93°C).
- Let the bread cool slightly before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- Any of your favorite herbs and veggies can be used in this bread.
- Wheat flour can also be used, but the quantity of ingredients might differ accordingly.
Expert Tips
- For a crispier crust, preheat a baking sheet in the oven while it preheats, then slide the shaped loaf onto the hot sheet for baking.
- Don't overmix the dough; knead just until it comes together to avoid a tough bread.
- If using active dry yeast, ensure it's foamy before adding it to the flour mixture to ensure a good rise.
Storage Instructions
- This bread freezes well. Slice and wrap individual pieces, then reheat in the oven straight from the freezer for a quick snack or meal.
