Ingredients
Watermelon Base
- 3 cup Watermelon cubed and frozen
- 1/2 cup Watermelon cubed, for garnish
Flavor Enhancers
- 4.5 Mint Leaves fresh
- 1 Lime juiced
Liquid
- 1 cup Water cold
Optional Spice
- 1 tsp Chaat Masala
Instructions
- Cut the watermelon into cubes. Freeze for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight. This allows for a frosty, slushy consistency.
- Wash the fresh mint leaves. Set aside a few larger leaves for garnishing.
- Juice the lime and remove any seeds.
- In a blender, combine the lime juice, honey, mint leaves, and 1/4 of the frozen watermelon cubes.
- Blend until smooth. This initial blend helps incorporate the flavors evenly.
- Add the remaining frozen watermelon cubes to the blender.
- Blend again until the mixture is completely smooth and slushy.
- Add salt, chaat masala (if using), and cold water to the blender.
- Blend for a final time to combine all ingredients thoroughly.
- Pour the watermelon mojito mocktail into glasses. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and watermelon cubes. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- For a slushy and extra-chilled mojito, freeze watermelon cubes ahead of time and use them in place of ice when blending. This keeps the drink cold without watering it down.
- If you prefer a fizzier texture, replace half of the cold water with chilled sparkling water or club soda just before serving.
- To elevate presentation, rim your serving glasses with a mix of salt and chili powder or black salt for a tangy twist.
- For a vegan version, substitute honey with agave syrup or maple syrup, adjusting the quantity to your preferred sweetness.
Expert Tips
- Muddle the mint leaves gently to release their flavor without bruising them, which can make the drink bitter.
- Adjust the sweetness and tartness to your liking by adding more or less honey/syrup and lime juice, respectively.
- For a richer flavor, use white rum aged in oak barrels.
Storage Instructions
- Watermelon mojitos are best enjoyed fresh. If you have leftovers, store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. The flavor and texture may change slightly over time.
