- In a blender, combine the mint leaves, coriander leaves, and grated ginger.
- Add ΒΌ cup of water and blend until a smooth paste forms.

- Add 2 cups of water and the lemon juice. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- Taste and adjust salt as needed. For a sweeter Jal Jeera, you can add a touch of jaggery or sugar.
- Just before serving, add ice cubes to the pitcher or individual glasses.
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- Instead of adding water, you can replace it with carbonated water or soda water.
- Optionally, add some sugar for a sweeter drink.
- For enhanced flavor, dry-roast the cumin seeds until aromatic before grinding; this deepens the earthy notes of your Jal Jeera.
- If you donβt have raw mango, a splash of bottled mango juice or a teaspoon of amchur (dried mango powder) can provide the signature tanginess.
- For a fizzy variation, top up the drink with chilled soda water instead of plain water right before serving.
- Chill your serving glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes before pouring to keep the Jal Jeera icy cold and refreshing longer.
Expert Tips
- Adjust the spice level by adding more or less green chilies, or using milder varieties like serrano peppers.
- For a smoother texture, blend the Jal Jeera mixture after combining all the ingredients.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves, a lemon wedge, or a pinch of roasted cumin powder for an extra touch.
Storage Instructions
- Store leftover Jal Jeera in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The flavors may meld and intensify over time.
