Instructions

Prepare the Fruit Mixture

  • Cut the apples and tomatoes into small, roughly equal-sized pieces. Add the chopped ginger and water.

Blend and Strain

  • Blend the apple, tomato, ginger, and water mixture until smooth using a blender. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any seeds or pulp. This will yield a clearer, smoother drink.

Season and Serve

  • Add the sugar, black salt, and crushed black pepper to the strained juice. Stir well to ensure everything is completely dissolved and combined.

Garnish and Chill

  • Pour the Nazrana into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with lemon wedges and serve immediately for a refreshing summer treat.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for the Perfect Indian Nazrana

  • For a sweeter drink, add up to 3 tablespoons of sugar. For a less sweet version, reduce the amount or use a sugar substitute.
  • If you don't have a blender, you can finely chop the ingredients, but be sure to use a fine mesh sieve for a smooth result. Using a food mill will also work.
  • Experiment with other spices! A pinch of cardamom or a few drops of rosewater can add another layer of flavor complexity.
  • To enhance the visual appeal, add a sprig of mint or a few slices of cucumber to the glass.
