Instructions

Preparation

  • Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.

Combining Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats and ground flax seeds. Mix well to ensure even distribution.

Melting Wet Ingredients

  • In a separate microwave-safe bowl, combine the peanut butter and honey. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Add 1 tablespoon of milk to achieve a better consistency if needed.

Combining Wet and Dry Ingredients

  • Pour the melted peanut butter and honey mixture into the bowl with the oats and flax seeds. Stir until everything is thoroughly combined and the oats are evenly moistened.

Adding Chocolate Chips

  • Let the mixture cool slightly. Once cooled, stir in the chocolate chips.

Setting the Squares

  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and press firmly and evenly into the pan. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm enough to cut into squares. Freezing for 1 hour will also work.

Cutting and Serving

  • Once firm, lift the oat squares from the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into squares and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
