Ingredients
 

Kohlrabi Preparation

  • 250 gm Kohlrabi also known as knol knol or german turnip. peeled and grated.

Aromatics and Spices

  • 1 tbsp Coconut grated
  • 1.5 tsp Salt or to taste
  • 3 tbsp Oil vegetable or coconut oil

Instructions
 

Prepare the Ingredients

  • Peel and grate the kohlrabi.
  • Finely chop the onion and green chilies.

Temper the Spices

  • Heat the oil in a pan or kadai. Add mustard seeds and urad dal. Wait until they splutter.
  • Add the green chilies and curry leaves; saute briefly until fragrant.

Saute the Vegetables

  • Add the chopped onions and saute until translucent.
  • Add the grated kohlrabi, cumin seeds, and salt. Stir well to combine.
  • Add 2-3 tablespoons of water, cover, and cook until the kohlrabi is tender.

Finish and Serve

  • Remove the lid and stir in the grated coconut. Cook until the raw smell disappears and the mixture is slightly dry.
  • Transfer the kohlrabi stir-fry to a serving bowl.
  • Serve hot as a side dish with rice or other South Indian dishes.
