Prepare the Veggie Patties

  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and sauté until they crackle.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste, sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, red chili powder, green chilies, crumbled bread, salt, coriander powder, garam masala, and lime juice. Mix well.
  • Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  • Shape the mixture into 4 oblong patties.
  • In a shallow dish, combine cornflour and water to create a thick slurry.
  • Dip each patty into the cornflour slurry and then coat with breadcrumbs, ensuring even coverage.
  • Heat some oil in a pan and shallow fry the patties until golden brown and crispy.

  • Spread green chutney or mayonnaise inside each bun.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for Perfect Veggie Hot Dogs

  • For extra flavor, marinate the veggie patty mixture for at least 30 minutes before shaping and frying.
  • If you prefer spicier hot dogs, add more green chilies or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the patty mixture.
  • Experiment with different toppings! Try adding pickled onions, shredded cheese, or your favorite hot sauces.
  • To make these ahead of time, prepare the patties and store them in the refrigerator. Fry them just before serving to maintain their crispiness.
