Ingredients
For the Veggie Patties:
- 2 Potatoes and mashed, boiled, peeled
- 1/3 cup Vegetables boiled and mashed (carrots, green peas, mixed, spinach recommended)
- 1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 2 tbsp Coriander also known as cilantro, finely chopped
- 2 Chilies adjust to your spice preference, finely chopped, green
- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
- 1 tsp Coriander Powder
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder adjust to your spice preference, red
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 tbsp Oil for shallow frying
- 2 slices Bread crumbled, use day-old bread for best results
- 2 tbsp Corn Flour mixed with water to make a thick slurry
- 1/4 cup Breadcrumb
- 1/2 tbsp Lime Juice
- 1-2 tsp Salt or to taste
For Assembly:
- 4 Dog Buns hot
- 1 Tomato chopped
- 2 tbsp Cucumber chopped
- 2 tbsp Onion chopped
- 2 tbsp Cabbage chopped
- 2 leaves Mint Leaves chopped
- 2 tbsp Chutney green, or mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
- 2 tbsp Mustard optional, yellow
Instructions
Prepare the Veggie Patties
- Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and sauté until they crackle.
- Add ginger-garlic paste, sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, red chili powder, green chilies, crumbled bread, salt, coriander powder, garam masala, and lime juice. Mix well.
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Shape the mixture into 4 oblong patties.
- In a shallow dish, combine cornflour and water to create a thick slurry.
- Dip each patty into the cornflour slurry and then coat with breadcrumbs, ensuring even coverage.
- Heat some oil in a pan and shallow fry the patties until golden brown and crispy.
Assemble the Veggie Hot Dogs
- Gently slit the hot dog buns lengthwise (optional: toast the buns lightly with butter).
- Spread green chutney or mayonnaise inside each bun.
- Layer chopped tomatoes, cucumber, onion, and cabbage inside the bun.
- Place a crispy veggie patty on top.
- Drizzle with tomato ketchup and yellow mustard (optional).
- Garnish with chopped mint leaves.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
