Roasting the Chickpeas (if using raw)
- If using raw chickpeas, roast them in a separate pan until fragrant and lightly golden, stirring frequently. This step is only required if you didn't buy pre-roasted chickpeas.
Grinding and Sifting
- Allow both the barley and chickpeas to cool completely. Combine them in a high-speed blender or food processor and grind into a fine powder. Sift the powder through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any coarse particles.
Storage
- Add salt (if using) and mix well. Transfer the sattu powder to an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place. The sattu powder will keep for several months.
