Instructions

Prepare the Nuts

  • Dry roast all the nuts in a dry pan over medium heat until fragrant and lightly browned. Let them cool completely.

Grind the Nuts

  • Once cooled, grind the roasted nuts into a coarse powder using a food processor or spice grinder. Avoid over-processing to maintain some texture.

Pulse the Dried Fruits

  • In the same food processor, pulse the chopped dates, figs, prunes, and raisins for a few seconds until they are roughly chopped but not completely pureed. Transfer this mixture to a large bowl.

Combine and Mix

  • Add the coarse nut powder to the bowl with the dried fruits. Mix thoroughly until everything is evenly combined.

Shape the Ladoos

  • Using your hands (slightly moistened if needed), roll the mixture into small, round ladoos. Alternatively, you can roll the ladoos in the dry roasted poppy seeds or desiccated coconut for added flavor and texture.

Store and Enjoy

  • Store the ladoos in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5-7 days.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for Perfect Ladoos

  • For a richer flavor, use a mix of different types of nuts and dried fruits.
  • Adjust the amount of each ingredient to your preference. If you prefer a sweeter ladoos, add more dates or figs.
  • If the mixture is too dry and difficult to shape, add a tablespoon or two of water to help bind it together.
  • For a festive touch, garnish the ladoos with a few chopped pistachios or other nuts before serving.
