Ingredients
Daliya & Spices
- 1 cup Daliya cracked wheat, dry roast until lightly browned, roasted
- 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
- 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds also known as jeera
- 1/4 tsp Peppercorns black
- 1 inch Cinnamon Stick
- 2 Cloves
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder also known as haldi
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder red
Vegetables
- 1 cup Vegetables chopped carrots, and green beans. feel free to substitute your favorites!, cauliflower, mixed, peas, potatoes
Instructions
Prepare the Daliya
- Dry roast 1 cup of daliya in a pan or pressure cooker until lightly browned. Set aside.
Sauté Aromatics and Vegetables
- Heat 2 tbsp of oil in the same pan or pressure cooker. Add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, 1/4 tsp black peppercorns, 1-inch cinnamon stick, and 2 cloves. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add 1 cup of chopped mixed vegetables (carrots, potatoes, peas, cauliflower, and beans are suggested) and sauté for 2 minutes until slightly softened.
Combine and Cook
- Add the roasted daliya, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp red chili powder, and 1.5 tsp salt (or to taste). Mix well to coat the vegetables and daliya with the spices.
- Add 1 cup of water, close the lid of the pressure cooker, and cook for 3-4 whistles. Allow the pressure to release naturally.
Serve
- Once the pressure is released, fluff the daliya with a fork and serve hot. Enjoy!
