Instructions

Prepare the Peanuts

  • Dry roast the peanuts in a wok or skillet over medium-low heat until they begin to pop and the skins turn slightly dark. Let cool completely, then peel off the skins.

Roast the Sesame Seeds

  • In the same pan, dry roast the sesame seeds until fragrant. Set aside to cool.

Grind the Ingredients

  • Coarsely grind the roasted peanuts in a food processor or blender. Separately, pit the dates and grind them coarsely as well.

Combine and Mix

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground peanuts, ground dates, and roasted sesame seeds. Mix well using your hands until a dough forms.

Shape the Laddoos

  • Pinch off small portions of the dough and roll them into balls (laddoos). Make them all roughly the same size.

Store

  • Store the laddoos in an airtight container at room temperature.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for Perfect Date & Peanut Laddoos

  • Date Selection: Medjool dates are ideal for their rich flavor and texture. If using other varieties, you may need to adjust the quantity slightly.
  • Roasting: Don't burn the peanuts or sesame seeds. Low and slow roasting brings out the best flavor.
  • Grinding: Coarse grinding is key to maintaining texture. Avoid over-processing.
  • Storage: These laddoos will keep for about a week in an airtight container at room temperature. For longer storage, consider freezing them.
