Ingredients
For the Idli Batter
- 3/4 cup Rolled Oats Lightly powdered
- 1/2 cup Yellow Moong Dal Soaked 4-5 hours
- 2 tbsp Urad Dal Soaked, helps fermentation
- 2 tbsp Curd To aid fermentation
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
For the Coconut-Chana Chutney
- 1/4 cup Coconut Fresh, Grated
- 2 tbsp Chana Dal Roasted, Daria
- 1 Green Chili Optional
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt For chutney
Instructions
Preparing the Batter
- Blend soaked moong dal and urad dal into a smooth batter using minimal water.
- Mix in powdered oats, curd, and salt to form a thick idli batter.
- Cover and rest in a warm place for 6-8 hours or overnight to ferment.
Steaming the Idli
- Grease idli moulds lightly and pour in the fermented batter.
- Steam for 10-12 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Making the Chutney
- Blend coconut, roasted chana dal, green chili, and salt with a little water into a smooth chutney.
- Serve warm idlis with the chutney on the side.
