Ingredients
- 150 gm Prawns shelled and washed-150 gm
- 2 Onion chopped
- 3 Tomatoes chopped
- 2 inch Ginger chopped
- clove Garlic peeled-6 to 8
- 1 Chilli green, or
- 2 leaves Bay Leaf bay
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1/2 tsp Coriander Seeds
- 1/4 tsp Pepper whole, black
- 3/4 tsp Turmeric Powder haldi
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder red
- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
- 4 tbsp Cooking Oil
- 1.5 tsp Salt or as per taste
- leaves Coriander dhania, chopped
Instructions
Marinate the Prawns
- Marinate the prawns with 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder and salt. Set aside for 20-30 minutes.
Prepare the Masala Paste
- In a blender, combine cumin seeds, coriander seeds, black peppercorns, ginger, garlic, green chili, and one onion. Add 1/2 cup water and blend into a smooth paste.
Fry the Prawns
- Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan. Fry the marinated prawns for 1 minute over medium heat. Remove and set aside.
Sauté Aromatics
- Add the remaining oil to the pan. Add bay leaves and cumin seeds; sauté for a few seconds. Stir in turmeric powder and red chili powder.
Build the Curry
- Add the prepared masala paste and sauté for 3-4 minutes on low-medium heat. Add chopped tomatoes and cook for 4-5 minutes. Add 1/2 cup water, bring to a boil.
Simmer and Serve
- Add the fried prawns and salt. Cover and simmer for 4-5 minutes. Stir in garam masala and coriander leaves. Remove from heat and serve hot.
