Ingredients
- 500 gm Pettha Sweets
- 100 gm Gulkand also known as rose petal preserve
- a few drops Food Coloring adjust to your desired intensity., pink
- 100 gm Desiccated Coconut
- 50 gm Mawa optional, also known as dried milk solids, for a richer flavor and texture.
Instructions
Prepare the Pettha
- Crush the Pettha sweets using a mortar and pestle or a food processor until finely crumbled. Aim for a consistent, even texture.
Color and Mix
- Gently incorporate pink food coloring into the crushed Pettha, mixing thoroughly until the color is even. If using khoya (dried milk solids), gently fold it in now.
Assemble the Laddus
- Take about 2 tablespoons of the Pettha mixture and flatten it in your palm. Place a small spoonful of gulkand in the center.
- Gently roll the mixture into a smooth ball, ensuring the gulkand is completely encased within.
Coat and Chill
- Place desiccated coconut in a shallow dish. Roll each laddu in the coconut until evenly coated.
- Chill the Gulab Laddu in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the laddus to firm up slightly. Serve chilled for the best experience.
