Ingredients
For the Almond-Tomato Paste
For the Gravy
- 2 tbsp Mustard Oil
- 1 tsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 1.5 tsp Salt or to taste
- 1 tsp Chili Powder red
- 1 tsp Coriander Powder dhania
- 0.5 tsp Turmeric Powder haldi
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
- 3 tbsp Cream heavy cream or cashew cream for vegan option
- 200g gm Soy Chaap cut into bite-sized pieces, store-bought or homemade
Instructions
Prepare the Almond-Tomato Paste
- Blend the soaked and peeled almonds, chopped tomatoes, brown onion, and mint leaves into a smooth paste using a blender or food processor.
Cook the Gravy
- Heat mustard oil in a thick-bottomed pan or handi over medium heat. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 4-5 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the prepared almond-tomato paste to the pan. Stir in salt, red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala. Mix well and cook on low heat until the oil separates from the gravy (about 10-12 minutes). Add a few drops of water if needed to prevent sticking and stir occasionally.
Add Cream and Chaap
- Stir in the cream and simmer the gravy on low heat for 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- While the gravy simmers, grill the soy chaap separately on a griddle or tawa until lightly browned and slightly charred. You can use a little oil to prevent sticking.
Combine and Serve
- Add the grilled soy chaap to the gravy. Simmer for another 5 minutes to allow the chaap to absorb the flavors.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves and a dollop of cream (optional).
