Ingredients
For the Cookie Crust
For the Brownie Layer
- 1 (14 ounce) can Sweetened Milk condensed
- 1/4 cup cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 cup cup Cocoa Powder unsweetened
- ½ tsp tsp Baking Powder
- 2 Egg large
- 1 tsp tsp Vanilla Extract
- ¾ cup cup Chocolate chopped; semi-sweet chocolate
- 1/4 cup cup Chocolate Chips dark or milk chocolate, or a mix
- Pinch Salt
Instructions
Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a 13x9 inch baking pan with foil, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal. Lightly grease the foil.
Make the Cookie Crust
- Crush the biscuits into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a zip-top bag and crushing with a rolling pin. Combine the crumbs, melted butter, and powdered sugar in a bowl. Mix with your fingertips until evenly moistened.
Assemble and Bake the Crust
- Press the cookie crumb mixture firmly and evenly into the prepared pan to create a crust. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly; leave oven on.
Make the Brownie Batter
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the condensed milk, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, eggs, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth. Stir in the chopped chocolate and chocolate chips.
Bake the Brownie Layer
- Pour the brownie batter over the cooled crust and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached. Do not overbake.
Cool and Serve
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into bars. This allows the brownies to set properly.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Perfect Brownie Bars
- Use good quality chocolate for the best flavor. Dark chocolate chips will create a more intense chocolate taste.
- Don't overbake the brownies! Slightly underbaked brownies will be fudgier. Check for doneness with a toothpick – it should come out with moist crumbs.
- For an extra decadent touch, add a sprinkle of sea salt on top of the brownie batter before baking.
- Store leftover brownie bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
