Ingredients
Cake Ingredients
- 120 gm All-Purpose Flour
- 70 gm Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 2 tbsp Cocoa Powder
- 2 tbsp Milk
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Chocolate Ganache
- 100 gm Heavy Cream
- 200 gm Chocolate dark
- 10 gm Butter unsalted
Garnish (Optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan, or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt. This ensures even distribution of the dry ingredients.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in a tough cake.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
For Chocolate ganache
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat.
- Place the chopped dark chocolate and unsalted butter in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot heavy cream over the chocolate and butter. Let it sit for a minute to melt the chocolate.
- Whisk the mixture until smooth and glossy. Set aside to cool slightly and thicken.
- Once the cake is completely cool, use a serrated knife to slice it horizontally into two layers.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread half of the ganache evenly over the top. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings, if desired.
- Top with the second cake layer and spread the remaining ganache over the top and sides of the cake. Decorate with chocolate chips and drizzle with chocolate sauce, if desired.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the ganache to set.
