Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for the Perfect Mango Barley Pudding
- Soaking the Barley: Soaking the barley beforehand is crucial for optimal texture and cooking time. At least 30 minutes is recommended, but longer soaking (even overnight) is fine.
- Adjusting Sweetness: Taste the mixture before steaming and adjust the sugar according to your preference. You may need more or less depending on the sweetness of your mangoes.
- Steaming Consistency: Ensure the water in your pot is gently simmering, not boiling rapidly, to prevent the pudding from scorching or becoming grainy.
- Cooling Time: Allowing the pudding to cool completely is important for achieving the best texture. Rushing this step could result in a runny pudding.
