About Coconut Chutney
Coconut chutney is a popular South Indian side dish known for its fresh taste, creamy texture, and mild flavor. Made mainly with freshly grated coconut, green chilies, and simple spices, this chutney is quick to prepare and adds a delicious touch to everyday meals.

- Grate fresh coconut if using whole coconut.
- Chop green chilies and ginger into small pieces for easy grinding.
- Measure all ingredients and keep them ready.
- Add grated coconut, roasted gram, green chilies, ginger, tamarind, and salt into a mixer jar.
- Add a small amount of water.
- Grind into a smooth and creamy paste.
- Heat oil in a small pan.
- Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Add dry red chili, curry leaves, and a pinch of hing.
- Fry for a few seconds until aromatic.
- Pour the hot tempering over the prepared chutney.
- Serve fresh with idli, dosa, vada, or upma.

- Use freshly grated coconut which gives a naturally sweet taste and creamy texture to the chutney. Avoid using frozen coconut.
- Add water gradually during grinding to adjust the consistency.
