Ingredients
For the Churro Dough
- 200 ml Water
- 50 gm Butter unsalted
- 2 tbsp Sugar granulated
- 1 tsp Salt
- 150 gm All-Purpose Flour
For Frying
- 4 cup Vegetable Oil or other high-heat oil for frying
Instructions
Prepare the Churro Dough
- Heat water, butter, sugar, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat until the butter is melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Remove from heat and add all-purpose flour all at once, stirring vigorously until a smooth dough forms.
Shape and Fry the Churros
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Alternatively, use a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large, deep pot or deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Pipe 4-inch long churros into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Coat and Serve
- While still warm, toss the churros in a mixture of granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce (chocolate sauce is recommended!).
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Perfect Churros
- Use a good quality vegetable oil with a high smoke point for even frying and to prevent the churros from absorbing too much oil.
- Don't overcrowd the pot when frying – this will lower the oil temperature and result in soggy churros. Fry in batches if necessary.
- Ensure your dough is smooth and comes away easily from the sides of the pan, otherwise your churros may be tough.
- For extra crispy churros, you can let the fried churros cool slightly on a wire rack before coating them with sugar and cinnamon.
