Ingredients
Spices and Aromatics
- 1 generous pinch Saffron strands
- 1/2 inch Cinnamon bark
- 2-3 Cloves
- 2-3 Cardamom pods
- 1 tsp Rose Petals dried
Tea and Water
- 1 tsp Kashmiri Kahwah Tea green leaves
- 2 cup Water
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the water, saffron strands, cinnamon bark, cloves, cardamom pods, and rose petals.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Simmering gently allows the spices to infuse the water without becoming bitter.
- Reduce the heat to low and add the Kashmiri Kahwah green tea leaves. Steep for one minute. This brief steeping time prevents the tea from becoming overly strong or astringent.
- Remove the pan from the heat and strain the tea into serving cups. Discard the tea leaves and spices.
- Garnish each cup with slivered almonds, a few saffron strands, and a few rose petals.
- Sweeten with sugar or honey to taste. Serve immediately and enjoy the fragrant warmth of Kashmiri Kahwah.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips
- Adjust the sweetness and spice levels to your liking. Start with less and add more gradually until you achieve your desired taste.
- For a richer flavor, use full-fat milk and freshly ground spices.
- Simmering the tea for a longer time will intensify the flavors, but be careful not to over-boil it.
Storage Instructions
- Once cooled, store leftover chai in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Gently reheat before serving.

Wonderful recipe. Learning a lot from you with respect to tea and beverages. Is there any specific variety of pink rose to be used or any pink colored rose will do?
