Ingredients
Coating and Flavoring
- 150 gm Sugar Balls bal dana, for coating, white
- 5 Cardamom Pods crushed
Other
- 1 tsp Ghee for greasing the tray
Instructions
- In a heavy-bottomed or nonstick pan, melt the khoya over low heat. Stir continuously to prevent burning.
- Continue cooking and stirring the khoya until it turns a light golden brown. This develops a rich, nutty flavor.
- Add the sugar to the khoya and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture deepens to a dark chocolate color. This indicates the sugar has caramelized and the khoya is cooked through.
- Stir in the crushed cardamom pods for a fragrant touch.
- Grease a tray with ghee. This prevents the mithai from sticking.
- Pour the warm mithai mixture into the greased tray and spread it evenly. Let it cool completely.
- Once cooled, cut the solidified mithai into rectangular or square pieces.
- Spread the white sugar balls (bal dana) on a tray. Roll each piece of mithai in the sugar balls until fully coated.
- Your Bal Mithai is ready to be enjoyed! Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
