  • 1 cup Butter softened to room temperature, unsalted
  • 1-2 tbsp Milk add as needed to bring the dough together. whole milk or almond milk work well.

  • 1/4 cup Almonds for topping the cookies, halved

Instructions
 

Prepare the Dough

  • Beat softened butter, powdered sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  • Add the whole wheat flour and slivered almonds. Mix until just combined.
  • If the dough is too dry, add 1-2 tablespoons of milk, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together.

Shape and Bake the Cookies

  • Roll the dough into small, lemon-sized balls.
  • Flatten each ball slightly with your palms.
  • Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Press a halved almond onto the top of each cookie for decoration.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.

Cool and Serve

  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
