Instructions

  • Peel the oranges and separate the segments. Peel and seed the cantaloupe, then cut it into chunks. Peel the bananas.
  • Juice the cantaloupe, followed by the oranges and cilantro stems. This extracts maximum flavor from all ingredients. Strain the combined juices into a pitcher.
  • In a blender, combine the strained juices, honey (if using), and banana chunks. Blend until completely smooth and creamy.
  • For an elegant touch, optionally rim the glasses. Moisten the rims with the lemon slice. Spread the powdered sugar on a small plate. Dip each glass rim into the sugar, coating it evenly.
  • Pour the smoothie into the prepared glasses. Garnish each glass with a fresh cilantro leaf. Serve immediately or chill for a later treat.

Recipe Notes

Good To Know

  • Oranges are an excellent source of Vitamin C, which is essential for human health, and dietary fiber.
  • Bananas are a good source of Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, manganese, and dietary fiber.
  • Musk and cantaloupe melons are nutrient-rich, low in calories, and excellent sources of Vitamins A and C.
  • Honey is a natural sweetener and a healthier alternative to refined sugar.
  • Coriander stalks can be used in drinks, soups, and stocks.

Expert Tips

  • For a thicker, colder smoothie, freeze the fruits beforehand. This eliminates the need for ice, preserving the flavor intensity.
  • Customize the sweetness according to the ripeness of your fruits. If your fruits are very sweet, you may not need any additional sweetener.
  • Experiment with adding a pinch of ground cinnamon or nutmeg for a warm, spiced flavor profile.

Storage Instructions

  • This smoothie is best enjoyed fresh immediately after blending.
  • If storing, refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 24 hours. Note that some separation may occur; stir well before drinking.

I am a passionate foodie who loves to cook, serve and love to see people relishing my creations. Since the time I was small I used to wonder about the 'how' of things in the kitchen.

Then when I finally ventured as an unprofessional kitchen helper for my late grand-mother (a par excellent cook in her own generation) I was fascinated by the amount of stuff you could do to a simple milk and rice to form a most yummy pudding.

Here I am sharing my recipes with a will to learn from some and educate others as well!
