Ingredients
Potatoes & Aromatics
- 15 Baby Potatoes boiled
- 2 tbsp Onion chopped
- 7 clove Garlic chopped
- 1 tbsp Spring Onions green parts only
Spices & Oil
- 1.5 tsp Salt or to taste
- 0.5 tsp Paprika
- 0.5 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 2 tbsp Oil
Instructions
- Cut the boiled baby potatoes in half.
- Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle until fragrant. This releases their aromatic oils into the dish.
- Add the chopped garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until lightly golden. Be careful not to burn the garlic, as it can become bitter.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté for about a minute, or until softened and translucent.
- Add the salt and paprika. Mix well to distribute the spices evenly.
- Gently add the halved potatoes and spring onions to the pan. Toss everything together carefully to coat the potatoes in the flavorful spices. Avoid breaking the potatoes.
- Your Spicy Paprika Potatoes are ready! Serve them hot as a starter or a delicious side dish.
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- You can add some grated cheese to the potatoes or garnish with cheese before serving.
- For extra crispiness, parboil the baby potatoes, then lightly smash them with the back of a spoon before pan-frying. This increases the surface area for better caramelization and crunch.
- If you prefer a smokier flavor, replace half the regular paprika with smoked paprika or add a pinch of chipotle powder for a subtle heat.
- To make this dish vegan and more nutritious, toss in some sautéed bell peppers or spinach along with the onions and garlic for added color and flavor.
Expert Tips
- For even cooking, ensure your potatoes are roughly the same size. If using larger potatoes, cut them into uniform pieces.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when frying. Work in batches to allow the potatoes to crisp up properly.
- Freshly ground paprika provides the best flavor and color.
Storage Instructions
- Leftover Paprika Potatoes can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a hot skillet to restore crispiness before serving.
