Ingredients
For the Squid
- 6 Squid cleaned, whole
For the Pressure Cooking
- 0.25 tsp Turmeric Powder haldi
- 1 tsp Chili Powder red
- 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
For the Squid Marinade
- 0.25 tsp Turmeric Powder haldi
- 2 tsp Chili Powder red
- 1.5 tsp Salt or to taste
For the Filling
- 1 Onion finely chopped
- 1 Tomato finely chopped
- 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 0.25 tsp Turmeric Powder haldi
- 1 tsp Chili Powder red
- 1 tbsp Coriander dhania, chopped
- 1 tsp Fennel Seeds saunf, crushed
For Garnish & Serving
- 1 tbsp Honey
- 1 tsp Sesame Seeds roasted
- 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil plus extra for frying
- 6 Toothpicks
Instructions
Prepare the Squid
- Wash and clean the squid thoroughly. Reserve the tentacles.
- Pressure cook the squid bodies for 15-20 minutes with 0.25 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp red chili powder, and 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste.
- Once cooked, remove and allow to cool slightly. Finely chop the tentacles and set aside.
- Marinate the squid bodies with 0.25 tsp turmeric powder, 2 tsp red chili powder, and salt to taste. Let it rest for at least 1 hour.
Prepare the Filling
- Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a pan. Add the chopped onions and sauté until light brown.
- Add 1 tsp of ginger-garlic paste and sauté until fragrant.
- Add 0.25 tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp red chili powder, and sauté briefly.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and sauté until softened and oil separates.
- Stir in the chopped squid tentacles and crushed fennel seeds. Mix well.
- Add the chopped coriander and cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
Assemble and Cook
- Fill each marinated squid body with the prepared filling using the back of a spoon, ensuring even distribution.
- Seal the opening of each squid with a toothpick.
- Heat remaining vegetable oil in a pan. Carefully place the stuffed squid in the pan and shallow fry for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve hot, garnished with honey and sesame seeds.
