Instructions

Prepare the Fish

  • Wash the fish fillets thoroughly 7-8 times, with the final rinse including turmeric powder and salt.

Marinate the Fish

  • In a bowl, combine the washed fish with turmeric powder, salt, lemon juice, red chili powder, onion paste, ginger-garlic paste, and mustard oil. Mix well to ensure the fish is evenly coated. Marinate for at least 15 minutes, or longer for a more intense flavor.

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F) for 10 minutes.

Roast the Fish

  • Place the marinated fish fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Roast for 10-12 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Ensure even browning by flipping halfway through.

Serve

  • Serve the crispy roasted fish immediately, garnished with a lime wedge and fresh cilantro. Enjoy with a side salad.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips

  • For extra crispy skin, pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels before marinating.
  • Adjust the amount of red chili powder according to your spice preference. Start with less and add more if needed.
  • If you don't have onion paste, you can finely chop a small onion and use it instead.
  • For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of garam masala to the marinade.
