Ingredients
For the Idlis
- 6 Idlis about 6 medium-sized, leftover
For the Chilli Sauce
- 1 medium Onion finely chopped
- 1 medium Bell Peppers capsicum, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste finely minced; can substitute with chili paste for extra heat, or 1 tsp ginger and 1 tsp garlic
- 1.5 tsp Salt or to taste
- 1/2 tbsp Chili Sauce red
- 1/2 tbsp Soy Sauce dark soy sauce preferred
- 1/2 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
- 1/4 tsp Pepper black, freshly ground, optional
For Garnish
- 2 Scallions spring onions, finely chopped, for garnish
- 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds lightly toasted, white
- 2 tbsp Oil vegetable or canola oil
Instructions
Prepare the Idlis
- Cut the leftover idlis into bite-sized pieces. You can shallow fry, deep fry, or grill them lightly until golden brown. Set aside.
Sauté the Vegetables
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for about 20 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the chopped onions and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes, until slightly softened but still crisp.
Combine and Simmer
- Add the red chili sauce, soy sauce, tomato ketchup, salt, and black pepper to the pan. Mix well to combine.
