Instructions
Prepare the Kofta
- Mash the boiled raw bananas and potatoes thoroughly.
- Add the chopped onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, gram flour, and salt to the mashed mixture. Mix well to form a cohesive dough.
- Roll the dough into small, equal-sized balls. These are your koftas.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Carefully place the koftas in the hot oil and fry until they turn golden brown, flipping occasionally.
- Remove the fried koftas and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
Prepare the Gravy
- Heat oil in a separate pan. Add cumin seeds and sauté for a few seconds until they splutter.
- Add the crushed garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until light brown (approximately 3-4 minutes). Set aside to cool.
- Once cooled, blend the sautéed onion mixture into a smooth paste using a blender.
- Heat oil in a fresh pan. Add asafoetida and cumin seeds; sauté for 30 seconds.
- Add red chili powder and turmeric powder; mix well.
- Add the blended onion paste and sauté for 3-4 minutes.
- Add a little water to the blender to collect any remaining paste and add it to the pan.
- Add coriander powder and cumin powder, and mix thoroughly.
- Cook the masala until the oil separates from the mixture.
- Stir in the tomato puree and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add water and bring to a boil.
- Add garam masala powder, stir well, and simmer for 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the fresh cream and remove from heat.
- Gently add the fried koftas to the gravy and stir gently to combine.
- Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and a dollop of fresh cream.
