Ingredients
Citrus & Herbs
- 2 Lemons peeled and deseeded
- 6 1/2 leaves Mint Leaves
Sweeteners & Flavorings
- 3 Tbsp Honey
- 1/4 tsp Rose Water
- 1/4 tsp Salt or to taste
Instructions
- Thoroughly peel the lemons, ensuring all the pith (the white part) is removed. This prevents bitterness. Remove and discard the seeds.
- Combine the peeled and deseeded lemons, mint leaves, honey, rose water, salt, and water in a blender.
- Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and the mint leaves are fully incorporated.
- Add the ice cubes to the blender and pulse a few times to crush the ice and chill the drink. Avoid over-blending, as this can melt the ice too much.
- Pour the Limonana into glasses and serve immediately. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig, if desired.
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- This drink is best served immediately after preparation, as muddled mint can become bitter over time.
- For a slushy version, freeze lemon juice in ice cube trays and blend them with the other ingredients.
- Add a sparkling twist by replacing half of the water with chilled club soda just before serving.
- Create an elegant presentation by rimming the glass with salt and lemon zest, and garnishing with mint and edible rose petals.
- Muddle mint leaves with honey before adding other ingredients to intensify the mint flavor.
Expert Tips
- Adjust the sweetness and tartness to your liking by varying the amount of honey or lemon juice.
- For a smoother texture, strain the drink through a fine-mesh sieve after blending.
- Experiment with other herbs like basil or cilantro for a unique flavor profile.
Storage Instructions
- This drink is best enjoyed fresh. Storing it is not recommended as the mint can become bitter and the flavors may change.
