Ingredients
Guava Base
- 2 Guavas ripe
- 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 1 handful Mint Leaves
For Slushing
- 200 ml Soda Water
- 2 cup Ice Cubes crushed
Instructions
- Halve the ripe guavas and scoop out the seeds and pulp, discarding the seeds.
- Purée the guava pulp in a blender until smooth.
- Add the lemon juice, honey, and mint leaves to the blender. Blend again to combine.
- Add the soda water and crushed ice. Blend until the mixture is smooth and slushy. Blending in the ice last ensures a perfectly frosty texture.
- Pour into glasses and serve immediately.
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- For a spicier, street-style twist, sprinkle a pinch of kala namak (black salt) and red chili powder on top before serving—this enhances the tangy-sweet profile and adds an authentic Indian flair.
- If you prefer a smoother texture, strain the blended guava mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth before adding soda water to remove seeds and pulp.
- To make an adult version, add a splash of white rum or gin for a refreshing summer cocktail, garnished with extra mint leaves or a slice of guava on the rim.
- Freeze chopped guava pieces ahead of time and use them in place of some of the ice—this keeps the slush thick and flavorful without dilution as the ice melts.
Expert Tips
- Adjust the sweetness to your liking by adding more or less simple syrup or sugar.
- For a visually appealing presentation, use a variety of guava colors, from pale pink to deep red.
- Experiment with other complementary fruits like mango or pineapple for a tropical twist.
Storage Instructions
- This slush is best served immediately. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 days. The texture may change slightly upon thawing.
