  • Mix gram flour, poi leaves, salt, red chili powder, asafoetida, ghee, and lemon juice in a bowl. Gradually add water to form a soft, pliable dough.

Cook the Gatta Dumplings

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon of oil to the boiling water. Divide the dough into small portions and roll them into small balls or dumplings. Gently drop the gatta into the boiling water. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the gatta are cooked through and float to the surface.

Prepare the Masala Sauce

  • Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add finely chopped green chilies and onions, sauté until softened.

Simmer the Sauce

  • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Stir well and cook for a minute. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Combine and Serve
