Ingredients
For the Sugar Syrup
- 2 cup Sugar
- 2 cup Water
- 3 Cardamom Pods green
For the Paneer Jalebi Batter
- 250 gm Cottage Cheese (cottage cheese)
- 1 Tbsp Semolina (sooji)
- 1 Tbsp All-Purpose Flour (maida)
- Ghee for deep frying
Instructions
- In a wok or saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and green cardamom pods. Gently heat the mixture, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Bring the syrup to a simmer and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until it slightly thickens. This creates a light syrup that will coat the jalebis beautifully. Set the syrup aside.
- Crumble the paneer into a blender or grinder. Add 1/2 cup of water and blend until a smooth batter forms.
- Add the semolina and all-purpose flour to the paneer batter. Blend again until the batter is completely smooth and free of lumps.
- Heat the clarified butter in a deep wok or kadai over medium heat. Ensure the oil is hot enough for frying by dropping a small amount of batter; it should sizzle gently.
- Transfer the paneer batter to a piping bag or a squeeze bottle with a small nozzle. Carefully pipe the batter into the hot clarified butter in a spiral or circular motion, creating the characteristic jalebi shape.
- Fry the jalebis for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Maintain a medium heat to ensure even cooking.
- Remove the fried jalebis from the clarified butter and immediately immerse them in the warm sugar syrup. Allow them to soak for a minute or two, absorbing the sweetness and flavor.
- Serve the paneer jalebis warm. They offer a unique combination of crispy and soft textures with a delightful sweetness.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips
- For a richer flavor, consider using bone-in chicken thighs instead of boneless, skinless breasts.
- Adjust the cooking time based on the thickness of your chicken pieces. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- If you like a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of your favorite hot sauce to the sauce.
Storage Instructions
- Store leftover chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop, adding a splash of chicken broth or water to prevent drying out.
