Ingredients
For the Paneer Balls
- 50 gm Cottage Cheese indian cottage cheese
- 200 gm Mawa
- 50 gm All-Purpose Flour maida
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder
- 20 gm Semolina sooji
- 5-6 Pistachios chopped
- 2-3 tbsp Water or as needed to form a dough
For the Sugar Syrup
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Water
- 2-3 drops Rose Water for added aroma
For Frying
- Vegetable Oil as needed, for deep frying
Instructions
Prepare the Paneer Dough
- Combine paneer, khoya, all-purpose flour, baking powder, semolina, cardamom powder, and chopped pistachios in a bowl. Mix well.
- Gradually add water, mixing until a soft, pliable dough forms. Knead gently for a few minutes.
- Roll the dough into small, equal-sized balls (approximately 1 inch in diameter).
Make the Sugar Syrup
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the syrup reaches a one-string consistency (a thin thread forms when you lift a spoon).
- Stir in rose water (if using).
Fry and Soak the Gulab Jamun
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or kadai over medium heat.
- Carefully drop the paneer balls into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until they turn golden brown and cooked through, turning occasionally.
- Remove the fried jamun balls from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Immediately add the warm jamun balls to the hot sugar syrup. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes, allowing them to absorb the syrup and become tender.
Serve
- Serve warm or at room temperature. Garnish with extra pistachios or rose petals, if desired.
