Ingredients
Daliya & Liquids
- 1 cup Broken Wheat daliya, soaked in 1 cup water for at least 1 hour
- 2 cup Water
Aromatics & Spices
- 1 tbsp Oil vegetable or coconut oil recommended
- 1 Onion finely chopped, medium
- 0.5 tsp Cumin Powder roasted
- 0.25 tsp Pepper black, ground
- Salt to taste
Finishing Touches
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice freshly squeezed
- 1 tbsp Ghee for richness
Instructions
Prepare the Daliya
- Wash and soak 1 cup of broken wheat (daliya) in 1 cup of water for at least 1 hour.
Sauté the Vegetables
- Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pot or pan. Add 1 finely chopped medium onion and sauté until softened. Add the grated carrot and green peas, cooking for about 2 minutes until slightly tender.
Cook the Soup
- Add the soaked daliya, along with 0.5 tsp roasted cumin powder, 0.25 tsp black pepper, and salt to taste. Mix everything well.
- Pour in 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the daliya is cooked through and the liquid has thickened slightly. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Finish and Serve
- Stir in 1 tbsp of lemon juice and optional 1 tbsp of ghee for richness. Mix well and taste, adjust seasoning as needed.
