Instructions

  • In a pan, melt the clarified butter over medium heat.
    1/2 cup Mango Puree
  • Add the semolina and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant. This toasts the semolina and enhances its nutty flavor.
    1 tbsp Ghee
  • Stir in the rolled oats, salt, red chili powder, and mango puree. Combine thoroughly.
1/3 cup Rolled Oats, 1 cup Semolina, 1/3 tsp Salt, 1/3 tsp Chili Powder
  • Reduce the heat to low and continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens. This creates a cohesive crust that will hold its shape.
  • Transfer the semolina mixture to a tart mold, pressing it firmly into the bottom and up the sides to create an even crust.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 5 minutes, or until the crust is lightly golden. Baking sets the crust and gives it a pleasant crispness.
  • In a bowl, combine the chopped mango, spicy chickpeas, peanuts, mint leaves, lemon juice, salt, red chili powder, and black pepper.
1/3 cup Mango, 1/4 tsp Pepper, 1/3 tsp Chili Powder, 1 tbsp Mint Leaves, 1/3 cup Peanuts, 1 tsp Lemon Juice, 1/2 tsp Salt, 1/3 cup Spicy Chickpeas
  • Gently spoon the mango salsa filling into the baked oat crust. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Good To Know

  • For extra crunch in the tart base, lightly toast the oats and semolina in clarified butter before mixing; this will enhance the nutty flavor and help prevent a soggy crust.
  • If you prefer a more intense tangy note, add a teaspoon of lime juice or zest to the mango puree before spreading it onto the tart base.
  • To make this recipe vegan, replace clarified butter with coconut oil and ensure your masala blend doesn’t contain any dairy-derived ingredients.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped mint or a sprinkle of chaat masala just before serving for an aromatic, street-food-inspired finish that contrasts beautifully with the sweet mango.

Expert Tips

  • For a smoother mango puree, blend it with a touch of Greek yogurt or cream cheese before spreading.
  • Blind-baking the tart crust for a few minutes before adding the filling helps prevent it from becoming soggy.
  • Experiment with different types of masalas to create unique flavor profiles. A garam masala or a touch of cardamom would complement the mango beautifully.

Storage Instructions

  • Store leftover mango tart in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
