Ingredients
Dough
- 150 gm Whole Wheat Flour whole
- 150 gm All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds roasted
- 1 tbsp Ginger grated
- 2 tbsp Oil
Milk Wash
- 1 tbsp Milk
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until foamy. This activates the yeast and ensures a good rise.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, salt, roasted cumin seeds, and grated ginger.
- Add the oil and the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until a smooth, firm dough forms.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough to release the air. Knead it for 5 minutes on a lightly floured surface. This develops the gluten and gives the breadsticks a nice chew.
- Roll out the dough into a ¼-inch thick rectangle.
- Cut the dough into equal strips using a pizza cutter or a sharp knife.
- Arrange the breadsticks on a greased baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
- Brush the breadsticks with milk. This will give them a beautiful golden-brown crust.
- Let the breadsticks rise for another 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips
- For a richer flavor, consider using bone-in chicken thighs instead of boneless, skinless breasts. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time accordingly.
- Customize your spices! Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for heat, or some smoked paprika for a smoky depth.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when browning the chicken. Work in batches to ensure each piece gets a nice, even sear.
Storage Instructions
- Store leftover chicken and sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
