Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour whole
- 1/4 cup Ragi Flour
- 1/4 cup Cocoa Powder
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/4 tsp Salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Butter softened, unsalted
- 1/2 cup Jaggery
- 1/4 cup Milk
- 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
Decorations (Optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, ragi flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Sift the dry ingredients through a fine-mesh sieve. This ensures a light and airy cookie texture.
- Add the softened butter and jaggery to the dry ingredients. Using your hands or a pastry blender, combine the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and milk. Mix until a soft dough forms. The dough should be pliable but not sticky.
- Wrap the dough tightly in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Chilling helps prevent the cookies from spreading too much during baking.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use a cookie cutter to cut out desired shapes. Alternatively, roll small portions of dough into balls.
- Place the cookies onto the prepared baking sheet. If desired, sprinkle with colorful sprinkles.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Serve these delicious ragi chocolate cookies with a glass of milk or a warm beverage of your choice.

- Store cooled cookies in an airtight container in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
- Add a piece of bread to the container to help maintain crispness.
