Ingredients
Chocolate
Dairy & Other
- 50 gm Heavy Cream or double cream; full-fat recommended
- 1 tsp Butter for extra creaminess, room temperature, unsalted
- Optional Cocoa Powder for dusting
Instructions
Prepare the Chocolate
- Combine the grated dark and white chocolate in a medium bowl.
Melt the Chocolate
- Microwave the heavy cream on medium-high for 1 minute. Pour the warm cream over the grated chocolate and cover the bowl. Let it sit undisturbed for 2 minutes to allow the chocolate to melt.
Create the Truffle Mixture
- Gently whisk the mixture until smooth and creamy. If the mixture isn't completely smooth, microwave it in 20-second intervals, whisking between each interval, until smooth. Stir in the room temperature butter until fully incorporated.
Assemble the Truffles
- Once the mixture is cool enough to handle (but still slightly soft), stir in the chocolate chips. Roll the mixture into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter).
Chill and Serve
- Refrigerate the truffles for at least 5 minutes to allow them to firm up. Dust with cocoa powder, if desired. Serve and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Perfect Truffles
- Use high-quality chocolate: The better the chocolate, the better the truffles will taste. Look for good-quality dark and white chocolate with high cacao content.
- Don't overmix: Overmixing can incorporate too much air and make the truffles less smooth. Mix until just combined.
- Chill thoroughly: For perfectly formed truffles, allow them to chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to an hour. This ensures they set properly.
- Get creative with toppings: Dust the truffles with cocoa powder, chopped nuts, sprinkles, or even drizzle melted chocolate over them for added flair.
