Ingredients
- ½ cup Mung Bean washed and soaked for 1 hour, yellow
- ½ bunch Fenugreek Leaves dried
- 4-5 Garlic Pods
- Salt as per taste
- ½ tsp Chili Powder red
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 Tomato big
- 1/2 cup Peas
Instructions
Preparation
- Wash and soak the moong dal for at least one hour. Finely chop the fresh fenugreek leaves and the tomato.
Sauté Aromatics
- Heat the oil in a pot or pressure cooker over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add Vegetables and Spices
- Add the chopped fenugreek leaves and peas to the pot. Sauté for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala (optional), cumin powder (optional), and ground coriander (optional). Stir well to combine and cook for another minute.
Incorporate Dal and Tomato
- Add the soaked moong dal and sauté for another 5 minutes. Stir in the chopped tomato and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the tomato softens slightly.
Simmer and Cook
- Add 1 cup of water to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the dal is tender. If using a pressure cooker, cook for 2 whistles.
Serve
