Ingredients
For the Batter
- 1 cup All-purpose flour also known as maida
- 2 tsp Lemon juice
- 1 tsp Chili powder red
- 1 tsp Chaat masala
- 1 tsp Vegetable oil for the batter
- Water as needed Water to make a smooth batter
For Frying
- 2 cup Vegetable oil for deep frying
Instructions
Prepare the Bananas
- Peel the raw bananas and cut them into finger-shaped pieces. Boil the banana fingers in water with a pinch of salt for about 5-7 minutes until slightly softened, but not mushy. Drain well and set aside.
Make the Batter
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, red chili powder, chaat masala, and lemon juice. Add 1 teaspoon of oil to the batter. Gradually add water, whisking continuously until you achieve a smooth, slightly thick batter. The consistency should be similar to pancake batter.
Fry the Fritters
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, dip each banana finger into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Carefully drop the battered banana fingers into the hot oil. Fry in batches, avoiding overcrowding the pan, until they are golden brown and crispy. This should take about 2-3 minutes per batch.
Serve
- Remove the fried banana fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce (optional) and enjoy as a delicious snack!
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Perfect Raw Banana Fritters
- For extra crispy fritters, allow the battered banana fingers to rest for 5-10 minutes before frying. This helps the batter set and prevents sogginess.
- Adjust the amount of red chili powder to your preferred spice level. If you like it spicier, feel free to add more.
- Don't overcrowd the pan while frying. Fry in batches to ensure even cooking and achieve that perfect golden brown color.
- Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture. These fritters are best enjoyed fresh, hot, and crispy!
