Ingredients
- 1 Cottage Cheese block paneer, cut into cube pieces
- 2 tbsp Yogurt
- 2 tsp Ginger Paste
- 2 tsp Garlic Paste
- 2 tsp Chilli Paste green
- 1 tbsp Cashew Paste
- 1 tbsp Poppy Seed Paste
- 2 tsp Dried Fenugreek Leaf
- 1/2 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
- 1 tsp Coriander
- Vegetable Oil cooking spray
- Salt for seasoning
- Chaat Masala
Instructions
Marinate the Paneer
- Combine paneer cubes, yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, green chilies, lemon juice, and salt in a bowl. Mix well to ensure the paneer is evenly coated. Marinate for at least 1 hour, or preferably longer, in the refrigerator for optimal flavor development.
Add the Aromatic Spices
- After the initial marinating time, add cashew paste, poppy seed paste, garam masala, coriander powder, and kasuri methi to the paneer mixture. Gently stir to combine all ingredients. Let it marinate for another 30 minutes.
Grill the Paneer
- Preheat your grill or grill pan. Thread the marinated paneer cubes onto skewers. Lightly brush the paneer with vegetable oil. Grill the paneer over medium-low heat, turning occasionally, until it is heated through and slightly charred, about 5-7 minutes per side. Ensure the paneer remains tender and doesn't become dry.
Serve and Enjoy
- Remove the paneer from the grill and sprinkle generously with chaat masala. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and mint chutney (if using).
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for the Perfect Paneer Malai Tikka
- For extra creaminess, add a tablespoon of heavy cream to the marinade.
- If you don't have a grill pan, you can bake the paneer in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Adjust the amount of green chilies according to your spice preference. Start with one and add more as needed.
- For a smoky flavor, you can char the paneer directly over an open flame (using caution).
