Ingredients
For the Rice
- 2 cup Basmati Rice cooked according to package directions; allow to cool slightly
For the Tempering
- 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
- 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds rai
- 1 tsp Gram black, split black gram
- 1 tbsp Chickpea split, split chickpea lentils
- 1 tbsp Peanuts
- 1 sprig Curry Leaves
- 3 Chilies adjust to your spice preference, dried, red
For the Flavor
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric haldi
- 1.5 tsp Salt adjust to taste
- 2 tbsp Coriander chopped, dhania
- 2-4 tbsp Lemon Juice adjust to taste
Instructions
Prepare the Tempering
- Heat oil in a wok or pan over medium heat. Once hot, add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add urad dal and chana dal, sautéing for about a minute until lightly browned.
Add Aromatics
- Add peanuts and curry leaves, sautéing for another 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in the dried red chilies and sauté briefly.
Incorporate Spices
- Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well and sauté for 30 seconds, ensuring the spices are well combined.
Combine with Rice
- Add the cooked rice to the pan. Mix gently to combine all ingredients thoroughly.
