Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  • Combine whole wheat flour, yeast, salt, and sugar in a large bowl. Add warm milk, fresh cream, and vanilla extract. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Add olive oil and knead for another 2 minutes.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 45-60 minutes, or until doubled in size.

Make the Stuffing

  • In a separate bowl, combine chopped tomatoes, grated cheese, chocolate ganache, chocolate chips (if using), honey, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.

Assemble and Bake

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Lightly grease a round baking pan or cake pan.
  • Divide the dough in half. Roll each half into a circle slightly larger than your pan.
  • Place one dough circle in the pan.
  • Spread the stuffing evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-cm border.
  • Top with the second dough circle.
  • Use a small glass to press into the center of the bread, creating a well.
  • Using a sharp knife, cut the bread into 12 equal wedges, cutting from the center to the edge.
  • Twist each wedge slightly outwards.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Brush with milk (optional).
  • Let cool slightly before removing from the pan.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Let the bread cool completely before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips

  • For a richer flavor, use a combination of cheeses in the stuffing.
  • If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, a tablespoon at a time.
  • Don't overbake the bread. It should be golden brown and cooked through but still slightly soft.
  • For a sweeter glaze, brush the top of the bread with a honey-butter mixture before baking.
