Ingredients
For the Bhalla Filling
- 1/4 cup Desiccated Coconut
- 1/4 cup Almonds finely chopped
- 1/4 cup Cashews finely chopped
- 1/4 cup Raisins kishmish
- 1 tsp Salt or to taste
For the Bread Bhallas
- 10 slices Bread white
- 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil for toasting
For Garnishing
- 1/4 cup Tamarind Chutney
- 1/4 cup Chutney green
- 1/4 tsp Chili Powder optional, red
- 1 tbsp Chickpea Noodle crispy chickpea flour noodles, optional
Instructions
Prepare the Bhalla Filling
- Combine desiccated coconut, chopped almonds, cashews, raisins, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
Assemble the Bread Bhallas
- Cut bread slices into 4-inch rounds.
- Lightly moisten one side of each bread round.
- Place 1-2 teaspoons of the filling in the center of each bread round.
- Fold the bread in half to form a semi-circle, pressing the edges firmly to seal.
- Repeat with the remaining bread slices.
Toast the Bhallas
- Lightly brush both sides of each bhalla with oil.
- Toast in a toaster oven until lightly golden brown. Alternatively, you can pan-fry them gently in a little oil.
Prepare the Yogurt Mixture
- Whip the yogurt until smooth and creamy.
- Season with salt to taste.
Serve the Bread Dahi Bhalla
- Soak the toasted bhallas in water for 1 minute to soften them slightly.
- Gently squeeze out excess water from each bhalla.
- Dip each bhalla into the yogurt mixture, ensuring it's fully coated.
- Arrange the yogurt-coated bhallas on a serving plate.
- Garnish with tamarind chutney, green chutney, red chili powder (optional), and sev (optional).
