Instructions

Prepare the Halva Base

  • Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Once boiling, add the sugar and stir until dissolved.
  • Gradually add the agar agar powder, whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Bring to a simmer for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Divide and Color

  • Divide the cooled halva mixture into four equal parts.
  • Leave one part plain (white).
  • Add a few drops of yellow food coloring to one part and stir until evenly distributed.
  • Repeat with green and maroon food coloring in separate bowls.

Layer and Set

  • Lightly grease your silicone mold.
  • Pour the yellow mixture into the mold and let it set in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes, or until firm.
  • Pour the white mixture over the set yellow layer and refrigerate for another 10-15 minutes.
  • Repeat with the green, white, and maroon layers, allowing each layer to set before adding the next.

Demold and Serve

  • Once all the layers are set (this should take approximately 45-60 minutes), carefully demold the halva onto a serving plate.
  • Serve chilled and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips

  • For a richer flavor, use full-fat milk.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar to your liking. Start with less and add more if needed.
  • Experiment with different food colorings and create your own unique layered designs.
  • If you don't have a silicone mold, you can use a small square or rectangular dish. Line it with plastic wrap to make demolding easier.
