About Jamun Shots
Jamun Shots is a vibrant and refreshing summer drink made from jamun, a seasonal fruit celebrated not only for its tangy flavor but also its impressive health benefits. This delightful beverage is the perfect way to beat the heat while enjoying a boost of nutrition.
Jamun is renowned for aiding digestive ailments, controlling diabetes, promoting heart health, increasing haemoglobin production, and supporting healthy skin and teeth. With just a handful of simple pantry ingredients like cold water, lemon juice, sugar, and black salt, you can easily whip up these delicious and healthful shots at home.

Ingredients
- 12 Jamun
- 11/2 cup Water
- 1 tsp Lemon Juice
- 1 tbsp Sugar optional
- 1/4 tsp Salt black
- 1 wedge Lemon or
- 2 tbsp Garnishing or salt salt for
- sprig Garnishing or mint mint for
Instructions
- Clean and de-seed the jamuns and take them in a blender.
- Now add sugar, black salt and 1 cup of water in the blender and blend together.
- Pour it in a tall glass and add remaining water and lemon juice and mix well.
- Spread the salt in a plate.
- Take a lemon wedge and rub it on the brim of shot glasses.
- Next place each shot glass upside down in the salt. Salt will stuck on the edge of the glass creating a ring of salt.
- Now pour the drink in each glass and garnish with mint sprig.
Recipe Notes
You can also add ice cubes to the drink however I have used chilled water hence avoided it. If you want you can avoid sugar in the drink.
Additional Tips
- For an extra burst of flavor and a visually appealing touch, rim your shot glasses with a mixture of black salt and chili powder before pouring in the Jamun shots.
- If fresh jamun is not available, you can use frozen jamun or high-quality jamun pulp—just thaw and strain well to remove any seeds or fibrous bits for a smoother drink.
- To create a more sophisticated layered effect, add a splash of chilled soda water just before serving; this adds a pleasant fizz and enhances the tanginess.
- For a diabetic-friendly version, replace sugar with a natural sweetener like stevia or erythritol, as jamun itself has properties beneficial for blood sugar control.
