Ingredients
Dried Moringa Leaves
- 4 tsp Moringa Leaves dried
Fresh Moringa Leaves (for Drying)
- 1 bunch Moringa Leaves fresh
Water
- 3 cup Water
Instructions
Drying Moringa Leaves - Microwave Method
- Wash the fresh moringa leaves thoroughly. Spread them in a single layer in a microwave-safe dish. This ensures even drying.
- Microwave the leaves on high for 3-4 minutes, checking periodically. The leaves should be dry and crumbly but not burnt.
Drying Moringa Leaves - Sunlight Method
- Wash the fresh moringa leaves thoroughly. Spread them in a single layer on a clean, white cloth. A white cloth helps prevent discoloration.
- Place the cloth with the leaves in direct sunlight. Allow the leaves to dry completely, which may take several hours or days depending on the climate. Sun-dried leaves may have a slightly different color than microwaved leaves.
Tea Preparation
- Place 2 teaspoons of dried moringa leaves into a tea diffuser or infuser. This contains the leaves while allowing the flavor to infuse into the water.
- Pour 3 cups of hot (not boiling) water over the tea diffuser. Using slightly cooler water prevents bitterness and preserves the delicate flavor of the moringa.
- Steep the tea for 7-8 minutes. This allows the optimal extraction of flavor and beneficial compounds.
- Remove the tea diffuser and serve the moringa tea immediately. Enjoy the warm, earthy, and slightly sweet flavor.
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- In the microwave method, the leaves will be very hot. Allow them to cool down before packing in an airtight container.
- If drying under the sun, avoid windy places to prevent the leaves from blowing away.
- The drying method (sun vs. microwave) doesn't significantly affect the taste.
- Moringa's effectiveness depends on individual health goals and dosage. For weight loss, consistent use is key. For blood pressure management, combine moringa with a balanced diet and nutrition.
Expert Tips
- For optimal freshness, dry moringa leaves in small batches.
- Store dried moringa powder in a dark, airtight container to preserve its nutrients and flavor.
- To enhance the flavor of your dishes, lightly roast the dried moringa leaves before grinding them into powder.
Storage Instructions
- Store dried moringa leaves or powder in an airtight container in a cool, dark, and dry place.
- Properly stored, dried moringa can last for several months.
